Help needed Our bike for bringing our daughter about was stolen in Phibsboro last night - it's an orange e-cargo bike. A camera from a neighbours house shows it was two young enough lads that stole it. Most grateful if anyone spots it if they could DM me

Did you ever hear about when Glasgow @RangersFC came to town? On the evening of 18th of September 1984, Glasgow Rangers came to Dublin to play @bfcdublin Bohemians F.C. in the first round of the UEFA Cup at Dalymount Park. It was the first time Rangers had played a competitive fixture in the Republic of Ireland and it happened at the height of the Troubles. Thousands of Rangers supporters travelled to Dalymount, many from Northern Ireland. Trouble began before a ball was kicked. Clashes broke out in the city centre and in Phibsborough throughout the afternoon. Northside pubs and streets were tense. The Gardaí were stretched thin. And Dalyer, already a ground showing its age, was not built for craic. By early evening, the crowd had swelled far beyond safe capacity. Sections of perimeter fencing were mobbed like something from Dawn of the Dead. These dangerous surges called compressions and panic. During the game, there were running battles on the terraces. Bottles and stones brought in by "fans" became a projectile. Its notable that no Scotsman threw any coins (!) Some Rangers thugs spilled onto the pitch. Whilst others broke the old wooden terraces and torn jagged plants free and threw them and attacked anyone within range with them. That perpetual punching bag of morons, the understaffed Gardaí, struggled to hold the lines. Boh`s won 3–2, a shock result. Goals from Jackie Jameson and Rocky O’Brien sent Dalymount into ecstacy. Predictably the arrogant agressive Rangers supporters who had arrived expecting dominance, transformed their humiliation into further thuggery. At the final whistle, the went on a mad one again. The damage to Dalymount was extensive. Parts were wrecked by the spiteful sectarian vandalism. Dozens were injured in crushes and fighting, including obviously loads of innocent actual Rangers fans. It was, for Irish football, a night of shame and reckoning. The return leg at Ibrox told a different story on the pitch. Rangers won 2–0 and progressed 4–3 on aggregate. Yet even in victory there was embarrassment. Manager Jock Wallace later admitted the violence in Dublin had deeply affected the club and the players’ performance in the first leg. The spectacle had not gone unnoticed in Europe and UEFA scrutiny followed. Irish journalist Peter Byrne wrote afterwards of the “raw, naked tribalism” exposed that night, suggesting it had effectively killed any immediate hope of an All-Ireland league.
