NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 40 Years Ago Today, Run DMC released their amazing 3rd album Raising Hell packed wall to wall with hits.
Raising Hell made it to #3 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums and Top Black Album. The groundbreaking album featured 4 hit singles: My Adidas, Walk This Way (with Aerosmith), You Be Illin', and It's Tricky. Walk This Way is considered to be the first rap/rock collaboration that brought hip hop fully into the mainstream and also rejuvenated and expanded Aerosmith's fanbase. It was also the first song by a hip hop act to reach the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Raising Hell has been ranked as one of the greatest albums of all time and in 1987 was nominated for Album of the Year, won Best Rap Album at the Soul Train Music Awards, and was nominated for a Grammy Award, making Run-D.M.C. the first hip-hop act to receive a nomination.[
In 2017, the album was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
