Have been reading up on the Ethiopian Slave Trade in the early 20th Century. It's interesting how Christian Ethiopians justified Slavery by recasting natural law through the "law of war" (the defeated become the property of the victors), and Mosaic Law drawn from the Orit (the Ethiopian Octateuch). They also ruled that only non-Christians could be enslaved, so it was defined by disbelief.
