Let's return to DVDs and write streaming off as a mistake.
Streaming is the main reason for the collapse in genuine indie cinema since 2014. The revenues from DVDs kept innovation alive. Their loss led to the "corporate reboot culture" we live in now.

A Tulare County detective was ambushed and killed Thursday morning while serving an eviction notice in Porterville, CA. Detective Randy Hoppert was shot by a 60-year-old suspect armed with a high-powered rifle. He died at a local hospital, leaving his four-months-pregnant wife behind. The suspect barricaded himself, then later emerged in tactical gear and opened fire on SWAT. Officers ran him over with a BearCat, killing him instantly. No prior record. Motive unknown.
