One of the things I noticed when I was working sex crimes was that my male victims didn’t get the same kind of treatment from defense counsel that my female victims did. Female victims are regularly accused of doing things to attract their attackers, from wearing revealing clothing to “flirting” with the man who then went on to rape them.
Male victims aren’t treated that way. When the assailant is a woman, they are asked why they let the assault happen — which is equally dreadful — but there’s never the same implication that the victim was asking to get raped, especially not when they’ve been assaulted by another man.
Only female victims are treated as if their behavior or apparel is a mitigating factor for their assailant. Past sexual history isn’t admissible any more, but defense attorneys find other ways to imply that the victim was a slut who got what she was asking for. That simply doesn’t happen when the victim is male, and although defense attorneys do their best to imply that male victims could have stopped it, that’s not quite the same thing. There’s not the same implication that the victim got what he deserved.

As someone who has travelled a lot, I think full time travelling is overrated. You only realise it after doing it enough times.
Think about Tokyo. People fly all the way there for “better food.”
But is it really THAT much better than the top Japanese restaurants in Singapore? No. Then calculate the actual time wasted. Hours at customs. Hours on the plane. Waiting at baggage claim. Travelling into the city. Checking into another cookie cutter hotel room that looks almost identical to every modern hotel on Earth.
Unless you are paying $2k to $3k a night, most hotel rooms are basically the same. And after all that effort, what do you really get? You can only eat 2 to 3 meals a day anyway. how many times can you eat that Ikura/Uni? If you care about your cholesterol, stuffing your face with that much uni will only give u a list of health issues. (Erectile dysfunction)
People romanticise cities too much. Most major cities today feels identical. Same luxury brands. Same cafés. Same malls. Same Instagram crowd. Sure,Tokyo has Japanese edition Rick Owens pieces. But realistically, how many pairs are you buying? After the first couple, it all starts looking the same.
I've also been to many top bars in the World.. i dont think any top bars in Paris/Tokyo is any much better than the ones i can find at all. it's the same.
People fetishise “experiences.” Cute Japanese girls in cosplay? Fine. But Singapore is rich enough that if someone REALLY wanted that experience, they could literally pay for it locally. All sort of AV girls fly into Singaore to access out market. Just $3k/night for Jap AV stars to your door step. So is sitting through immigration & airport queues really worth it?
I still think travelling is good once in a while. It gives perspective & breaks routine. or if you really want to DO SOMETHING. but otherwise just travelling to flex food/IG pics is really damn lame.
Building your entire personality around travelling feels like middle class brain rot. The world is actually much smaller & more repetitive than people want to admit.
Unless you are travelling for something genuinely unique like Burning Man/skiing/work, most cities are only entertaining for the first 1-2 trips. After that it's all the same.

🇨🇱 🚨 TRAGEDIA EN CHILE: Cayó desde un piso 11 y su padre se enteró 40 minutos después porque estaba durmiendo.
Hay noticias que desgarran el alma y despiertan una profunda rabia. Este domingo, alrededor de las 17:00 horas, una pequeña niña de tan solo 2 años y 7 meses, identificada como Isidora, perdió la vida tras caer al vacío desde la ventana de un dormitorio en un edificio de calle Los Militares, en la comuna de Las Condes, Santiago.
La pequeña se encontraba bajo el cuidado de su padre en un régimen de visitas muy estricto que se realizaba solo los domingos de 10:00 a 18:00 horas. Según los antecedentes policiales, el trágico accidente ocurrió bajo circunstancias indignantes:
El padre y su actual pareja habían tenido una celebración la noche anterior. A la hora del accidente, ambos se encontraban durmiendo una siesta en el dormitorio principal, dejando a la niña sola en otra habitación.
Existía un acuerdo legal explícito exigido por la madre para que la niña pudiera ir a ese departamento: el lugar debía contar con mallas de protección. El padre envió una factura asegurando que estaban instaladas, pero solo las colocó en el balcón, dejando las ventanas de los dormitorios completamente desprotegidas.
El nivel de desconexión fue tal que el fuerte estruendo de la caída fue escuchado por una vecina de los pisos inferiores, quien alertó a la administración y a Carabineros. Como Isidora no frecuentaba el edificio, los conserjes no sabían de qué departamento era. Pasaron 40 minutos buscando puerta por puerta por todo el edificio hasta que despertaron al padre para darle la desgarradora noticia de que su hija había fallecido.
Esta mañana, desde el Servicio Médico Legal, Gloria Ortiz, madre de Isidora, entregó unas palabras desgarradoras pero firmes, exigiendo que la justicia actúe ante lo que califica como un acto criminalmente negligente: "Espero que la situación sea aclarada... fue un acto negligente de un padre que no tomó el resguardo necesario para protegerle la vida". Su tío, Sergio Ortiz, también manifestó la total consternación de la familia.
El padre fue detenido de inmediato por Carabineros y la PDI. Durante la tarde de este lunes pasará a control de detención en el Centro de Justicia, donde la Fiscalía Oriente evalúa imputarle el delito de homicidio por omisión.
Un fin de semana que debió ser de juegos terminó en la peor de las tragedias por una siesta y una promesa incumplida. ¿Debería endurecerse la ley de mallas de seguridad obligatorias en edificios cuando hay menores de edad? Te leo en los comentarios.

I promise I’m not mad at my husband, but it’s annoying how differently men and women’s leisure time is treated. Our church had a women’s event a few weeks ago that was 2 hours on a Saturday morning. Today there’s a men’s golf tournament and dinner, which will take 7 hours 🫠
