They’re found in wooded, edge, and grassland #habitats and eat wild fruits & berries, bugs and insects, flowers, and sometimes carrion. Salato’s box turtles are slowly emerging from brumation in their enclosure. Look for them on your next visit, especially warm, sunny days!

Happy #TurtleTuesday! The Eastern box #turtle is the only terrestrial (land-living) turtle native to KY. They’re also the only turtle that can “hide” from would-be predators thanks to a hinge that allows their shell to close completely 1/2

For many, the distinctive call of the Spring Peeper is a welcome sign that #spring is near. These small chorus #frogs are found throughout KY and can be heard calling from mid-February to early summer. 1/2
