I highly recommend the movie, The Scarlet and the Black, starring Gregory Peck. Based on a true story. Another movie that makes you realize that movies today have replaced good characters, good plots, and good acting with explosions and dramatic CGI--that's why they're so terrible.

Saint Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) is one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church, often called the “Saint of the Impossible.” She was born in Roccaporena, Italy, and from a young age, desired to become a nun. However, out of obedience to her parents, she entered into marriage instead. Her husband was known to be harsh and involved in violent disputes, but Rita responded with patience, prayer, and kindness. Over time, her witness led to his conversion before he was eventually killed in a feud. After her husband’s death, her two sons also died (traditionally believed to be from illness), and Rita was left alone. She then sought to enter the convent of the Augustinian nuns in Cascia. Initially refused due to her connection to local feuds, she was later miraculously admitted. As a nun, Rita lived a life of deep prayer, penance, and charity. She is especially known for receiving a mystical wound on her forehead, resembling a thorn from Christ’s crown, sharing in His suffering. She died in 1457, and her body remains incorrupt in Cascia, Italy. She was canonized in 1900 by Pope Leo XIII. Today, St. Rita is invoked for impossible causes, difficult marriages, and hopeless situations, making her a powerful intercessor for many faithful. St. Rita, pray for us.
