Paid family leave sounds great – until people start gaming the system. Once that door is open, you can’t close it. In the socialist democracy I grew up in, paid family leave is now up to three years for families having children. Many families take advantage of this by having a child every three years. As a mom, you could stay home for nine years, have three children, and your employer is forced to pay your salary and guarantee your job after all that time. For small businesses, it’s a disaster. These policies may seem helpful, but they quickly become unsustainable.

It was a pleasure to connect with many passionate members of our community. The support and enthusiasm fuel our efforts to bring positive change to Savage and Burnsville. I’m grateful to stand alongside Ben Bakeberg and Aaron Paul, who are committed to serving our communities.

While door knocking today, I had a wonderful moment meeting 94-year-old Vivian, who shared that she recently voted for me. Hearing her story and witnessing her continued engagement in our community was truly inspiring. It’s connections like these that fuel my commitment to serve.
