According to his will, Raila Odinga requested that upon his death, he be laid to rest within 72 hours, beside his beloved mother’s grave.
This means his burial will take place on Saturday, 18th October 2025.
Raila’s mother, Mary Ajuma Odinga, passed away on November 5, 1984, at a time when Raila was detained without trial.
The Moi regime never informed him of her death.
It was only two months later that prison wardens broke the news to him, a moment he described as one of the most painful experiences of his life.
Yet, in his later years, Raila forgave Moi and even chose to support him politically.
That was the kind of man Raila Odinga was, a true patriot, guided by forgiveness, resilience, and love for Kenya.
