Not willing to figure out how to change the display name here but I moved to Mastodon years ago when it was only the one server, and now that it's thousands I'm silverseams@artisan.chat.

@harrisj Well, I mean, we haven't learned not to repeat anything *else* from the beginning of the 20th century, why should that be different?
English

@cpan_pevans Colors are pretty limited, but there's spray paint available for repainting/retouching grills and wood stoves.

@newbiedm They're also very sensitive to changes in ambient temperature. Drafts, etc. Make sure it's sheltered, and keep a thermometer/hygrometer and log what the temp/humidity was for successes and failures.
Also remember that the feedstock is very humidity-sensitive; keep it sealed up.

My #3dprinting experience is turning out to be very hit or miss, mostly miss. Not thrilled so far with the printer’s consistency to actually print well. Frustration is setting in. 🙂

@shanselman Whenever we go back to Wichita we have to pack our luggage with TastyKakes (and sometimes pork roll and scrapple). My husband mocked me for carrying a grocery bag full as my under-seat luggage but when we were in line in PHL I was far from the only one.

@newbiedm Tips: make sure the printer is not in a drafty place (even if it has an enclosure). Get a laser thermometer thingy to check the temp of the print bed (and consider gaffer tape). Also check to make sure the print file is made for your hot head size.

Done. Not like the other boat pics I’ve seen. Too porous. And the bottom got stuck to the plate and some plastic stayed behind. Now to figure out what the issue is. #3dprinting

@newbiedm Our first print is half a smushed cube so... yes. (Also, print just test cubes until you get the hang of it.)

@Smylers2 Do they... do they mean an Alexa or something? I mean, they're converting underused indoor malls around here into things including mixed-use with housing, but I still wouldn't describe that as "*inside* your home." 🏬
English

@newbiedm Don't rush it. Precision is *everything* in those critters. (We have a MendelMax RipRap, which my former-Boeing-Machinist husband assembled.)
English

@RagingOwlbear @newbiedm The "different interest groups" is so far largely served by different instances (though it's a rapidly evolving ecosystem and if the past is any indication the current influx of G+ people will probably lead to more direct parallels being implemented). Threading is pretty robust.

@EddiCreative Our air conditioner just kicked on. We leave it at 78. 🤷

@vboykis Me while I'm packing up endless boxes of books: I'm going to only buy ebooks from here on out.
Me after we arrive: Oh I live near an IKEA now so I can buy hardbacks more often.
English

@rgodfrey I saw one of the latter, but that might have been on Mastodon.
English

@vboykis Same. I have a few series that I got started in ebook during the cross-country move. I continue buying them in e format and that's my go-to for times I don't have a dead tree with me. But by and large, I'm team Physical Book.
