@rsms Encarta was great. I always wondered about the cost of doing something like that. I guess the web happened, particularly Wikipedia, Youtube and so on. Maybe (some) people don't want to pay for curated knowledge like they don't want to pay for news. It's a shame.

What happened to the concept of Multimedia software like Encarta? It would be so interesting if that whole thing had worked out. Imagine hobby and educational books like MIT Press Essential Knowledge series in a Multimedia format, with videos, sounds and interactive models to play with as you read & learn about something.
