This Friday, I took part in “Box in a Circle,” learning about Indigenous cultures, colonization’s impacts, and our role in disrupting harmful systems. Inspired by my staff’s commitment to creating spaces where all students feel valued and seen.

@aledaklassen The evidence of your influence is widespread. The Ss who will be in your class are extremely lucky. The staff who will get to witness your brilliance will be forever changed. Leading from the middle is often the most impactful, and I have no doubt you will continue to shine.

I'm hopeful that this coming year in a school will be a chance to action more learning and keep reflecting on what works and doesn't in order to maintain students' access to more pathway options as they navigate and leave high school.

This is the end of my second time in a central role. (I would have chosen this end myself, even if it wasn't thrust upon me.) These two years have been many things. As I figure out where to put the new books I've accumulated, I'll share some reflections. 🧵

The fix needs to be w college admissions to reward Ss taking 3U/4M/4U courses & potentially achieving a lower mark than if they took the 3C/4C course. Reward Ss for reaching & challenging themselves. We know it's better for them in the long run.
