1/2 "Nearly 20,000 scientists of Chinese descent have left for other countries, including China (two-thirds)." We're sending thousands of our best scientists to China. It would be hard to come up with a dumber set of policies. chemistryworld.com/news/scientist…

Growth in total confirmed #COVID19 cases as a percent of total population by country: U.S. versus Spain and Italy. (Indexed to days since the first 100 cases were confirmed in each country). U.S. is still early, but on slower relative trajectory when compared to Italy and Spain.

I have a very close friend who’s a researcher studying public health at a major NGO, and he told me that this was THE week to practice as much social distancing as possible, even if you don’t have to go to work. I asked him to explain why. Sharing his answers w/ permission (1/x)

Summary; Four+ independent confidential world-leading sources (not for attribution). All agree, but these are obviously estimates. Attack rate: 20-40% of population, R0 2.5-3. Doubling time 7 days. Fatality rate .5-1%. Total infections 500,000-1M++. Quarantines slow temporarily.

I don’t do this every day. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done it, ever. But I’m sharing a blog from ⁦@exxonmobil⁩. Whatever else we might disagree on, we agree on this. America deserves better than what this Administration is serving up on methane. energyfactor.exxonmobil.com/perspectives/s…

Just speculating out loud: Apple playing a more shrewd game. Warns China market is in peril —> less reason to keep supply chain there -> gets policymaker attention. No supply chain, no Foxconn, no Zhengzhou, etc etc. Ruhroh.
