🙏🎤What a day to be alive and joyful for the sun on your face and great friendships in your heart! A wonderful lunch, with a woman of amazing emotional intelligence and insight, empathy and kindness on Day Four of The Beatson Garyoke. Rhona Scotland and I were spin class buddies at The Peak in Stirling and I got to know her because her late dad, Alex 'Boss' Scotland was a legend of the Scottish Sunday newspaper scene who looked out for me when I was callow reporter. Boss was so proud of his daughter - and rightly so. Rhona personifies all the characteristic that made him great - loyalty, humour, thoughtfulness and integrity, especially. She's not a bad chanter, either, as we worked our way through Primal Scream and Deacon Blue. Mind you, don't think @rickyaross and Lorraine McIntosh have anything to worry about!

@GaryHyrox @karma1314 My husband had 4 weeks of dxt at the Beatson. He still talks of the laughs his cohort had singing things like the theme tune to Bonanza and music quizzes. He remembers them fondly. Good luck with your treatment!

🎤❤️ Decided there’s only one way to deal with seven weeks of radiotherapy at The Beatson - by giving it laldy all the way from Stirling to Glasgow and back. So many friends and family have offered their services and I decided to accept their graciousness on three conditions - I buy lunch, we sing karaoke and they agree to answer questions like ‘What was the last joyful thing you did?’ or ‘What is your favourite childhood memory?’ Kicked off Day One with my beautiful boy Lewis and the blast was much, much greater than that from the dose of radiotherapy❤️.

🎤😻 Day Three of sticking two fingers up to cancer, mostly through the medium of song! Mike Saini and I met at a funeral 15 years ago and it remains the only time I have ever been in his company and failed to laugh. Bon viveur, confidante, kindest pal and most generous host - it's an absolute privilege to call him one of my dearest friends. What a seriously joyful day, full of laughs and love and another splendid lunch. Radiotherapy? Truth be told, it's already making me a wee bit more tired (tried a Hyrox training session on Tuesday night and lasted three minutes) but, honestly, the power of love and music is a Godsend; a wonderful tonic.

💚💙One of the greatest thrills of the last few weeks has been the support received for Gary's Hyrox Challenge in aid of the @EBMemorialFund from both sides of the Old Firm. Cancer knows no colours. @RangersFC boss Danny Rohl, former @CelticFC manager Neil Lennon, Kris Boyd, @chris_sutton73, @LMBFPodcast and Mark Warburton all responded without hesitation to what someone very dear to me calls: 'The power of the ask.' The big two go head to head again tomorrow and the support from fans of both clubs is also hugely appreciated - thanks to my old mucker @ahaggerty10 of the @celticway1888 and @ACSOMPOD and David Edgar and Stevie Clifford of @ibroxrocks and and @4ladshadadream.
