I used to be critical of Europe’s excessive regulations, but I’ve grown quite fond of them
I’m glad our food isn’t loaded with 50 toxic or carcinogenic ingredients, that I can charge all my devices with a single cable, that my products last longer, and that they’re designed to be easily repaired
People outside of Europe can talk all the shit they want about the EU, but improving quality of life for the average consumer is a huge W in my book

Starting in 2027, smartphones sold in the European Union will be required to have user-replaceable batteries designed for greater durability and more charging cycles. Manufacturers must also provide spare parts and repair manuals for at least 10 years after a model is released. This is real pressure against planned obsolescence. It should mean phones that actually last longer, cheaper fixes, and a lot less electronic waste piling up. About time.

Products on the shelves in the US, even though made in China, are still of decent quality. Products made for Chinese and other poor countries are mostly trash. For example, $1-$2 charging cable will definitely break in a month or so. They can sell a lot more trashy products, but it doesn’t mean it’s a good thing.

The US sold 16.3 million cars, at average price of $47,900. You specifically downgrade the number of vehicles sold from 16.3M to 10M. Just only 1 of that fact shows your level of honesty.
China sold 34.4M vehicle at AVG of roughly $24K. So even selling twice as many vehicles, the total values are the same.
This means China is producing many crap cars, especially the EVs. Hundreds of thousands to millions of them are being discard as junks at junkyard around China.
