I guess we have forgotten... Once upon a time, Senate president Godswill Akpabio was in charge of the NDDC. The Senate called him to probe allegations of financial misconducts and he started spilling the beans. He got to a point where he began mentioning names and the Senate President at that time had to instruct them to turn off his Microphone. Right now, he is in charge of the Senate. Afflictions met us twice.

“Nigeria's sensitive data at the moment is actually in servers that are in Virginia or in Frankfurt in the United States.” Goziechukwu Chima‑Duru says that hosting sensitive data abroad weakens national control and that a local solution is needed to protect citizens and government systems.

Corporate Greed vs Everyday workers: Life of a contract staff in Nigeria My father worked at Zenith Manufacturing Ltd in Apapa for 28 years. Never missed a day. Won Best Staff twice at their annual dinner. Last Monday, the HR manager called him on WhatsApp. 4 minutes. That was it. Retired early. No severance. Nothing. The same month, the MD flew to Dubai for the company’s “executive retreat.” Dubai. My father left Ikorodu at 5am every morning to beat third mainland bridge traffic. Every single day for 28 years. He turned down a government job in 2009 because he believed in that company. They let go of 280 staff that week. 280 families. The disengagement letter came via email. They spelled his surname wrong. After 28 years, they couldn’t spell ADEYEMI correctly. He sat in the parlour that evening and just stared at the wall. My mother kept bringing him tea he never touched. We didn’t know what to say. He’s 56. No pension processed. NSITF contributions? Unaccounted for. NHF? Nobody is picking up. This is happening in companies all over Lagos, Abuja, PH. Everyday Nigerians sacrificing everything while oga at the top is chilling. Make una repost. Make this reach.

Nigeria’s U-19 women’s cricket team just defeated South Africa and is heading into the semi-finals . Cricket in Nigeria is under-supported, but these girls are showing up and winning anyway. If you’re in Lagos, go support them live at TBS tomorrow. Let’s show up!

So I was chatting with my son on WhatsApp on Wednesday night he told me he was sick in school and has gone to the clinic and he was given injection and some drugs that he was taking. I said Ok come home since Thursday and Friday is public holidays plus the weekend he can eat good food at home and rest well before he continues with his exams the following week. Guy refused to come home o, So I bought some stuffs and headed to his campus. He was not even expecting me. Only for me to get there guy said he's following me back home.I said so why didn't you come home when I asked you to come? 😔He said he was planning to come today that why didn't I tell him I was coming to his school? 😥We were counter accusing each other. Las las he arranged everything I brought for him and said let's go. That's how we left heading home. I pray his roommates won't end those things I brought for him that he left there. Campus life??? 😥Boys for that matter. It is well#finalyearstudents. Graduate@19.Lots to do in between before settling down. We pray Nigeria gets better for these ones. 🙏

On March 4, 2025, Adetunji “Teejay” Opayele was hit in a road accident in Victoria Island, Lagos. He was a co-founder of Bumpa and a well-known figure in Nigeria’s tech space. That evening, he was riding his power bike home from the gym when a car, driven by Biola Adams-Odutayo, collided with him along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. The impact left him badly injured on the road. According to a petition, after the crash, Adams-Odutayo did not immediately step out of her vehicle to check on Opayele. It was further alleged that when bystanders approached her companion, she said she did not want blood to stain her car. The petition also stated that while Opayele lay unconscious but still breathing, Adams-Odutayo, who is said to work in the healthcare sector, remained on a phone call for over 30 minutes rather than directly assisting or assessing the situation. Opayele was reportedly taken to two different hospitals, but both refused to admit him. In an effort to save his life, bystanders returned to the accident scene, placed him in a minibus, and asked Adams-Odutayo to accompany them. It was claimed that she eventually followed, after initially resisting, and that she remained at the scene because bystanders prevented her from leaving. Shortly afterwards, Opayele’s brother arrived at the scene and met a Samaritan who had been holding onto his belongings. They proceeded to the hospital where he had been taken, and upon arrival, he was confirmed dead in the early hours of March 5, 2025. This delay has become one of the most criticised aspects of the case. Nigerian law requires hospitals to provide emergency care without delay, but this is not always consistently followed. Many observers believe that the delay in treatment made a serious injury worse and may have contributed to Teejay’s death, raising questions about whether he could have survived with faster medical attention within the “golden hour.” Teejay's death quickly spread across social media and within Nigeria’s tech community. Many people expressed shock and sadness over the incident. Following the accident, the driver was charged with reckless and careless driving instead of manslaughter, a decision many Nigerians feel does not reflect the severity of the situation. Her release on bail on a sum of ₦1 million and two sureties, which she met on the same day, also caused further public concern, as it was seen by many as too lenient given the circumstances of the case. From road safety lapses to delayed emergency response, from hospital negligence to contested legal proceedings, the death of Adetunji Opayele has come to symbolise more than a single loss and the tragedy of a life cut short. It is a stark reflection of institutions that, at critical moments, failed to protect one of their own. #HistoryVille #CrimeStories
