"Often it falls to individual tenants to find themselves a quality solicitor to get representation, and if necessary, a solicitor who can get an emergency order requiring the housing provider to do the works in appropriate cases..."

"It's very likely that if lifts are broken and tenants can't get in or out of their homes, then you would have thought the housing provider is likely to be in breach of that law. It's really, practically, how do you go about enforcing it?"

@HLPA_UK Simon was a gifted speaker, and his speeches were typically the highlight of an event, delivered with his trademark humour, modesty, and always making a point of acknowledging others. Simon leaves a tremendous legacy in housing law.

@HLPA_UK Simon was also the life of a conference or party, a wonderful presence to be around and share a drink with, and often generously gave his time to help with organising an occasion.

@HLPA_UK Simon was a stalwart of housing & social welfare law. He was an excellent lawyer to work with, colleagues recall his meticulous preparation. He was charming, kind, and generous of spirit.

Simon was deeply committed to social justice and legal aid, and, despite having a busy caseload, was a dedicated and patient mentor and educator too. He contributed to numerous publications & worked prodigiously as co-chair of @HLPA_UK for many years.

Garden Court Chambers mourns the death of Law Centre colleague Simon Mullings. Simon was at the forefront of everything in housing & homelessness law. He was a brilliant lawyer & a fierce fighter for all his clients. He will be dearly missed. tinyurl.com/3kefcr6x
