1969 #Indy500: Carl Williams in the iconic STP Gasoline Treatment Special (#57) – a wedge-shaped Gerhardt-Offy. Qualified 30th, but clutch issues ended his run early (50 laps). This same car then won the next race: the Rex Mays 150 at Milwaukee (Art Pollard in relief of Greg Weld), and later the Delaware 200 at Dover with Plymouth stock-block power. In today's #IndyCar era, it'd be cool to see a team paint their tires yellow like the Grant King/Granatelli squad did back then – instant pit identification! What do you think – bring back creative tire colors? #IndyCarHistory

Watching the Iowa races on DVR. In Year 30 post-1996 split, @IndyCar is right back to those early IRL days of near zero attendance, devaluing the sport's oval racing heritage. I don't have the answers, but it sure is sad to see, especially given hopes for the Penske era.
