I had a mystefying experience yesterday evening. I’d picked up a the dog’s ball and casually lobbed it against a wall and caught it. To my surprise the sound of it tapping the wall hit my ears before it actually hit the wall. Every time I threw it I heard the tap before it bounced against the wall. This happened dozens of times. I tried a feint throw without releasing it; no tap. As soon as I threw it again the sound anticipated the contact as before. I wasn’t drunk, but this must surely be a function of disordered perception. I just tried it again today, and it isn’t happening. It felt quite spooky. I’d be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience or can explain it.

@ArmandDAngour If in anxiety about this - get to your GP and possibly Audiology asap. They’ve acted on my issue at speed. Carpet-bombing with steroids in progress… Enjoyed the recent Greek Music seminar at New btw. 🙏🏼 But next time may be hearing-aided.

Went on a seven-mile walk at the best place on earth today

@HawkEditorial Strong steer towards MH with that location. MH and buzzard v similar in size but flight likely going to settle this. Was it relatively low and flap-flap-glide in flight? If so, MH.

@gegegamble Yeah... I didn't think red kite as I knew they had a very pronounced V-shape - it was on the Humber side, not all that far from the Discovery centre. I thought it looked buzzard-like but a big bigger, perhaps.

@HawkEditorial Certainly could be - and I’m plumping for that ID over possible red kite. Location would be useful to know. The small pale patch on the body side of the neck is one thing that steers me towards MH. Did you get a good view of the tail - no sign of a V on this shot… 🤔
