We’re continuing to share the voices behind our Developing in the Dark photography exhibition — and today, we’re pleased to highlight Sarah’s story.
Sarah contacted The Migraine Trust for support when her chronic migraines with visual aura were becoming increasingly debilitating.

We had an amazing evening with @HelplinesUK Developing in the Dark exhibition, beautifully capturing how reaching out to helplines can literally save lives. We had the honour to speak to Cllr Liverpool Lord Mayor.
And planning a visit to Alfie's Squad.

After months of planning and preparation, everything came together last night for the Developing in the Dark special evening view.
It was such a pleasure to welcome so many guests—including our members and partners, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Barbara Murray, and even a Premiership footballer. It was a special evening that we’ll remember for a long time. 💜
A huge thank you to Rachel Brewster-Wright from Little Vintage Photography for her incredible hard work and commitment in bringing this exhibition to life.
View the exhibition until Friday at Baltic Creative, Jamaica Street, Liverpool, then at 92 Degrees Coffee on Jamaica Street throughout March.
The exhibition is also available online (Details in the comments).
We’re so proud of this exhibition and of every participant who so willingly shared their experiences to help others. Helplines really do transform lives.

Matthew had been a dairy farmer all his life. At 52, his life was farming: early mornings, surrounded by nature, the outdoors, his cattle, and — most importantly — the companionship of his older brother, with whom he had shared both work and life.
But when Matthew phoned Rural Support NI in 2025, things on the farm had changed.

Our Developing in the Dark photography exhibition is open today until 5pm!
We’ve been blown away by the response so far. Visitors have described the exhibition as moving, powerful and deeply important. We couldn’t be prouder of the conversations it’s sparking.
If you’re in Liverpool, we’d love you to come along and experience it for yourself at Baltic Creative. Don’t miss it!

"I reached out to the RASA 24/7 Helpline during a really difficult time. I had recently moved to a new city and didn’t have any kind of support network yet. After experiencing sexual abuse, I was dealing with a lot of confusion, anger, depression, and isolation. One night, it all caught up with me, and I had a panic attack. My thoughts were racing, and I didn’t know how to manage them on my own."
