@Hotchkiz @iamnyct0n01r Definitely give the book a read. Still made for girls, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm a dude in my late 20s. It does a great job of fleshing the themes out more than the movie has time for.

@iamnyct0n01r I saw that because of a strong recommendation from my sisters. I concluded that it’s a movie that’s supposed to be for teenage girls.

@LDSLaw Yeah, that sounds about right. However, I'm not worried about the church apostatizing or anything. I know the Lord wouldn't allow his church to go too far down the wrong path :)

An LDS 𝕏 post. Over the past few years, I keep encountering a repetitive refrain from many fellow members of the Church. Many of you have a deep, abiding concern that can probably be summarized this way: The Church is slowly being eaten by a cancerous element of niceness/tolerance/progressive messaging. Doctrines are being softly effaced. Prior teachings are being abandoned. The Church is embracing a kind of globalist, liberal ethos and is soft-pedaling any and all of the former "line in the sand" teachings of the recent past. The prophets/apostles are not teaching clear doctrines because many of their messages can be ambiguous or interpreted in conflicting ways. Because of this, it won't be long before the Church has totally drifted off course and becomes no different than any of the other church in the world that have embraced progressive value systems. Gay marriage sealings are just around the corner. Does that accurately reflect the feelings that many of you folks have?

@sister_slay I recently bought a house and hit the jackpot with my new minister, he does home maintenance. So far he's helped me with my furnace, my sprinklers, and my dishwasher. Just think of what gifts you have and try to share those.

Normally, you get what you pay for. I saw a review about this place that said "it was the greatest burger I have ever tasted in my life." So I had high hopes! Nobody mentioned the burger is TWENTY SEVEN DOLLARS. But that's a small price for the best burger in the world! The menu, which is ONLY accessible via a QR code glued to the table does not tell you the burger is spicy, like, REALLY spicy. My sons almost cried and I thought they were just being little babies, but then I took a bite. Not only that, it was dry. I can deal with a spicy burger, but a dry spicy burger? Nah. I paid $27 so I felt obligated to eat it so my wife wouldn't be pissed I wasted the money and now my stomach is killing me and I get to look forward to explosive firey diarrhea... UPDATE: 😫🔥💥💩

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux Again, still in response to you asking me what is worse than racism. You don't think people make too much of a deal about race nowadays? Honestly I wish we would all just stop talking about it.

I see people acting like critiquing this social media post from the church X account is the same thing as denouncing Pres. Oaks as a Prophet. It is not. In fact, our church is built with the idea that disagreement is a healthy way to navigate the pitfalls of the world. Do you think it’s just symbolic that we can vote to “oppose” various callings? The whole idea is, if we see something wrong we should voice it so we don’t go too far down the wrong path. This post is not good, and many of us told them why (some in not so healthy ways, but that’s their problem). There’s some group or individual in a church marketing department that thought this was a message worth telling the world. They were wrong.

“I grew up in Arizona, served a mission in Mexico, and went to college thinking I had a pretty clear path for my life. Then I met my now wife Victoria, and everything changed in the best way. “She always knew she wanted to be a doctor. Pediatric neurology isn’t an easy road, but it’s who she is, compassionate, steady, brilliant, and drawn to help kids and families through the hardest things life hands them. When she got into med school in California, we packed up and moved. “Stepping into her dream together was an easy choice. I wanted to support her the way she has always supported me. And honestly, watching her work and sacrifice and love people like she does has strengthened my faith more than anything else. “My path hasn’t been as clear. I’ve tried different directions, learned a lot, prayed a lot. Some days I still feel like I’m figuring it out. But I do know that God doesn’t measure timelines. He measures love, humility, and the way we show up for each other. “Supporting her doesn’t shrink my purpose—it expands it. Our callings from God can look different, and that’s beautiful. I’m building my future too, but I’m grateful that right now, part of my purpose is cheering for the person I love most as she steps into hers. “There’s not one 'right way' to build a family or a future. For us, this is ours. And it’s sacred.” — Nate

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux If I misunderstood you, that’s my bad. I will say though, even if you are an exception, there is still a pretty pervasive white supremacy in LDS culture, especially in Utah.

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux No, I think your thought processes have the *residue of white supremacy. If a prophet cheated on his wife, you wouldn’t say “Well, the shedding of innocent blood and denial of the Holy Ghost are worse sins.” But the fact that you do it with this shows there’s a cultural residue.

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux You have a lot of good questions. I won't pretend to have all of the answers. I do know a few things. Jesus is Lord. God is good. The Book of Mormon is true. Search the scriptures and the words of the prophets with a heart open to the Spirit and your answers will come.

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux Are you calling me a white supremacist? Demolishing the temples would be bad because then millions and millions of people would be unable to receive saving ordinances?

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux Why would demolishing the temples be bad? Isn’t that the same thing as not letting you enter them? It’s moves like this, where you try to downplay the seriousness of the temple and priesthood ban, that makes me really start to doubt that the white supremacy is really rooted out.

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux No. I’m asking, on principle, if our ignorance of God and his commandments is an act of love and mercy on his part, why not maximize our ignorance? Does his love and mercy not stretch that far?

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux There are still things worse than that. I can guarantee it. Yes it's bad. But I've already explained how God has rectified all wrongs committed. There are some things that can't be undone, and some that require much more pain and suffering to be undone.

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux No. The sin here is denying salvific temple ordinances and necessary priesthood ordination to fully worthy people based purely on feelings of racial superiority and a perverted eisegesis of scripture. It’s not just “doing a racism.”

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux Teaching you that you can kill someone. That you can commit adultery. Demolishing all the temples. Teaching that the Book or Mormon isn't the word of God. I can go on.

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux So we know what to ask about in prayer. To guide His church which gives us the ordinances of salvation. To perform those ordinances.

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux If our ignorance was an act of mercy, why send prophets to tell us his commandments at all? Why not be totally silent so our every mistake can be FULLY chalked up to our ignorance?

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux What could be worse than denying blessings that later can be received in the temple by proxy through their posterity? A lot of things. Like teaching that baptism isn't necessary? That Christ isn't our Savior?

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux Because we do make mistakes. And when we sin with a perfect knowledge, we are punished more severely for it. Hence why denying the Holy Ghost is the most serious of sins. It's a gift of mercy from the Father that we walk by faith.

@genius0234 @GrandpaJoeSux But why doesn’t he just do that? Why do we need faith? It only serves to detract from the purpose of life, which is to be tested to see if we’ll obey God. Adding in the faith dimension means we aren’t really being tested on that at all.

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux My understanding would be that the prophet can not cause you to stray from salvation or exaltation. While bad, the restriction of blessings to blacks did not have anyone lose their exaltation.

@Alscho1999 @GrandpaJoeSux That's what He did for Adam. That's what He did with Jesus Christ. But the things He taught get retold (sometimes incorrectly), and we all interpret the same things differently (ie the Bible). So unless He comes down again (which would remove the need for faith), He calls men.
