@petersmithcb @GovNL The whole thing amounts to $2K per capita annually if my estimate is right. They'll work it out, but $1B/yr is like ~4,000+ doctors. Probably worth taking a notch off that $17B debt @ 10+% financing to better align debt/capita while we're at it.

Bravo to the @GovNL on the Churchill Falls deal. Now, how will they spend this new revenue? Not going to lie, small provincial tax break would go a long way these days! #nlpoli

The Ford government's main selling point has been that private delivery of surgeries will help clear the backlog and reduce wait times. But research shows Ontario has substantially better wait times for joint replacement than provinces outsourcing those surgeries.

I just biked past a man frantically performing CPR on someone who had OD’d behind a dumpster just as an ambulance was pulling up. It fucking kills me that every day, average people across this city are doing everything we can to save our neighbours’ lives while our

Can't wait to read @doctorow's latest, an anti-finance finance thriller. Cory does these the right way -- no DRM. No #Audible. Support his work and enjoy 😊
Cory Doctorow NO LONGER ON TWIT TER@doctorow

*Red Team Blues* is my next novel, a #PostCyberpunk anti-finance finance #thriller; it's a major title for my publishers @TorBooks and @HoZ_Books, and it's swept the trade press with starred reviews all 'round. Despite all that, #Audible will not sell the #audiobook. 1/

@PierrePoilievre I was CBC’s Ottawa Bureau Chief for several years during Liberal and Conservative governments. Only once did the gov’t try to affect our political coverage. That was when CPC PM Harper’s staff met with me and asked that a CBC reporter be reassigned. I said no. End of story.

the funniest thing about the 'government-funded media' discourse is the idea that a government dollar produces media bias but a private one doesn't

This is the president of the Canadian Police Association saying that progressives who fight for things like more affordable housing and wealth redistribution are worse than far-right demagogues if you had any question about if they have any political biases or not.

According to our economic analysis, businesses in downtown Ottawa were out approx $40M-$50M due to Convoy protest. Feds and prov stepped up with support. BUT workers in Ottawa were out approx $150M in wages, yet they got ZERO financial support from any level of govt.
Ottawa People's Commission@ottpeoplescomm

The City of Ottawa provided up to $50K to each BIA to support for recovery after the convoy occupation. Ontario provided $11.5 million and the federal government provided $20 million to businesses who suffered losses due to the illegal blockades. What about residents and workers?
