I'm an SDLP member & representative, whose family were harassed & murdered by loyalist paramilitaries, and I'm now being told that my party is aligning itself with 'extreme voices in loyalism.'
This is embarrassing nonsense which no-one believes and which should be deleted.

The state was designed to keep a nationalist from becoming First Minister. History changed in 2024 when Michelle O’Neill took office. The SDLP’s proposal to abolish the First Minister title aligns them with extreme voices in loyalism and unionism.

Several people have reported injuries after a PSNI counter terror team rammed a car during a stop and search in west Belfast.
Police say two of their cars were involved in a collision during an attempted controlled stop.
Three people, including a child, were in the car at the time.
A search was conducted of the car, where nothing untoward was found. @BelTel

The ongoing process to recruit a new Police Ombudsman has been branded “farcical” after the powerful watchdog said former law officers should be disqualified from selection even though they were allowed to apply for the current vacancy.

The recruitment challenges facing the PSNI is not new, the SDLP have been saying it for the past decade but even over the last 24 months have made substantial interventions unfortunately in large part not supported by others such as Sinn Fein & Alliance

The problem with the past is not wholly of the PSNI’s making, but it continues to impact confidence amongst Catholics in the PSNI. The PSNI are not the RUC. Policing is needed for a better today & for a stable future before, during & after any process of constitutional change.
