I am an ecosystem ecologist with a passion for high latitude ecosystems, interested in the interplay of plants and their environment with a focus on #belowground plant processes, such as #root phenology & production, from arctic #tundra to temperate #peatlands.

It was really fun to come teach about spatial time series for this course of @AIL_limnologia. I had the brilliant idea to travel alone with my 2-year old and it has been the toughest thing I've done in a long time though...

@VVandvik @LoraxCate Also, students often do not take into account that the literature they have to read will be primarily in English. A few of my students have regretted not writing in English in the end, because they did not realize how much they will have to translate into their own language.

@LoraxCate First: writing in first language and then translating is a really bad idea! As a English-as-second language scientist myself, and as a supervisor if *many* in the same situation, I have thoughts and experiences to share… A🧵

I have said this often, but it is worth repeating: Even if a (very) few plants DO grow better in a peat-based compost that does not justify peat extraction. A (very) small loss of quality in a garden does not EVER justify peat use.
