Oh. Don’t do any of this. There isn’t a flower shortage with local floristry shops and independents. Call yours and shop local - they’ve had a hard few years so if you can afford a bigger bouquet for your loved one then please do spend more with them! 🙏♥️🌹

Yesterdays announcement will not be the guidance everyone wanted, we’re also disappointed regarding dancing (something we campaigned for). We are continuing conversations to ask for the new guidance to go live on the Friday dates and we will and carry on fighting for everyone.

Finally - we pushed and highlighted the sneaky changes within the entertainment guidance and have managed to have it reinstated and improved meaning entertainment CAN happen in a wedding hospitality setting at 1m distancing. still at low volumes but it is in the right direction.

Off the back of this - we are now collaborating with What About Weddings and the UK Wedding Task Force to create a joint social media campaign on Friday when Scotland and England play in the Euros together. An industry split across two nations, fighting for a common cause as one

A thread on why this doesn't work & why it's condemning business to failure & liquidation because THE GOV'T STILL DON'T GET IT! 1. Many businesses have more than a one week lead time. Food orders for example often need to be placed more than a week in advance #whataboutweddings

Looks like the wedding industry is getting ONE WEEK's notice about whether it can open on the 21st June. ONE WEEK. What's meant to be fun and exciting for couples and VITAL for an industry that has been ignored is just too much. #whataboutweddings

2. Businesses owners are not just business owners. Many are also parents who need time to arrange child care if they are going to be working. Not everyone has a partner or parents they can rely on at short notice. #whataboutweddings

3. Many business owners, due to the lack of financial support from government (#ExcludedUK) have had to go out and get other jobs to make ends meat. They need to give their new employers sufficient notice or also risk losing the job that's paying their bills #whataboutweddings

4. One week doesn't give guests attending weddings much notice to book accommodation, transport etc. And if they've already booked those things, they risk cancellation fees or losing the whole fee paid. Guests will also have jobs, finance & childcare concerns. #whataboutweddings

5. Many other businesses rely on wedding industry trade. For example, hotels, hair & beauty, taxis & transport. If people aren't sure they'll be attending a wedding, they wont book these services= lost trade elsewhere or more cancellation fees if already booked #whataboutweddings

6. Businesses that rely on staff, such as venues, will need to have staffing in place with more than a weeks notice. Meaning businesses will incur upfront costs for a job or event that might not even take place, leaving them further out of pocket #whataboutweddings

7. Many other businesses need to make these decisions too. Order upfront just in case and potentially lose much needed money if the event doesn't go ahead, or wait until you have the thumbs up and risk your goods not arriving in time/letting down your couple #whataboutwedding

8. Essentially, couples are being asked to gamble huge sums of money on whether their day will go ahead or not. By the 1 week mark they'll need to have paid for food, their venue, their dress alterations etc. Do they gamble, postpone or cancel? STRESS OVERLOAD #whataboutweddings

9. And if they do gamble only for things to not go to plan, there's every chance they'll need to cover those costs again. The food that had to be pre-ordered and paid for? Well, their guests will still need to eat next time, so guess who's paying again? #whataboutweddings
