@rorysutherland I'd love to have driverless tube trains, but with the exception of the Victoria + Waterloo/City lines, I think it's impossible to retrofit to the network. Plus you'd still need onboard controllers.
It's not like horses to cars, it's like making the road network fit for trains.

I have a better suggestion. Give tube trains very good automated safety features and then make the public pay to drive them. It would be a blast. And I'd do really good announcements.

@Simonhinde Yes, it's absurd how all the media obsessed about such a private matter - ditto Phillip Scofield. I guess they still think this sort of 'lark' is fair game - as long as it involves people who are gay, that is. The desperate need for clickbait really depresses me.
