Firefighters are battling a 50 acre fire at Blanchard Flat Rd & Reading Creek Rd southeast of Douglas City (Trinity County). #FlatFire

Vegetation fire this afternoon on Alicia Parkway (Tierra Oaks area) was caused by a mowing operation. The fire was stopped at 2 acres by RFD & CALFIRE. The person on the riding mower suffered some burns attempting to extinguish the flames. The RFD has issued a citation to him.

Dispatchers at SHASCOM - our 911 center - answered well-over two hundred '911 calls' during the first hour of the Creek Fire. This is not uncommon, particularly during high-visibility fire season incidents. The whole system gets taxed, including our personnel in dispatch.

Yesterday, FAA Airport Certification Safety Inspectors conducted the annual audit/inspection of our ARFF (crash-rescue) operations and systems at the Redding Municipal Airport. Once again, our RFD personnel - qualified in ARFF - passed with flying colors. #ReddingProud
