@RekeDMC @TREErenceMalick I was there and watched as well lol Lakers were heavy pre season favorites to win the title in 2004. You can’t say shaq was in decline and still think current Embiid is anywhere near his mvp level

@ghat15 @TREErenceMalick I can say that because I was there and watched, not just going off stats. That Laker “super team” was worse than their 3 peat teams. OP put new Sixers’ PPG last year for reference, but context is aside from Bron all still at their prime/before.

@mr_idktn It’s not a basketball thing it’s a LeBron thing. He’s the only player in history not allowed to have good teammates

@RekeDMC @TREErenceMalick How can you say that with a straight face when I just showed how many points they averaged? Shaq was still their best player in 04 and Kobe sabotaged it.

@ghat15 @TREErenceMalick Super team only on paper. But fact was only Kobe was in his prime. Karl and GP way past their primes, and Shaq on the decline.

@Hero_OfThe_Day @ghat15 The 76ers had 20 to one odds to win the championship before LeBron joined, which put them at about 12th. The only reason you think it's a stacked team now is because he's on it.

Let me help you out, Rachel. You are “ring chasing” if you’re a great player who is no longer ‘the guy’ & you join a stacked roster. — Examples: Karl Malone to the Lakers, Shaq to Boston, etc. We know you’re a friend of Klutch, but we won’t let you blur the lines.
HeroOfTheDay tweet media
Rachel Nichols@Rachel__Nichols

Can it really be ring-chasing if you already have four rings?? Or if you joining the team is *the reason* they become a title contender? As we heard from LeBron after the Olympics, what he’s actually chasing is the chance to play for big-time stakes again.

@ghat15 @TREErenceMalick you’re a bron fan bro. It’s ok. He was +175 first year with the heat and lost. Like I said, it happens. You need chemistry and good players to win. this is indeed still a super team. Embiid, Maxey & Brown are all top 20 players in the league. The chemistry will be the question.

@jaha_eth @TREErenceMalick That lakers team was +140 pre season to win the title which is insanely high. This sixers team is +900 it’s not even in the same stratosphere.

Imagine Kobe and Mj ring chased. Imagine after the lakers 3peat and the lakers losing to Pistons….. Kobe got up and left to play with Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. Kobe would have 12-15 rings, if he kept ring chasing .. Buttt Kobe and Mj had integrity for the game. They respected the game they loved. Lebron has no respect for the game who made him.

What LeBron did today would be equivalent to …. Michael Jordan leaving the Bulls and playing on the lakers with Kobe and Shaq instead of the Wizards Just sit and play 25 min a game and win rings. MJ would have 9 rings But Michael Jordan respected the game he loved, the guy had integrity. LeBron has neither See the difference?

Bleacher Report ranking Kobe Bryant as the 42nd best defender in NBA history perfect example of Kobe hater fan fiction disguised as basketball discourse. 12× All-Defense. 9× First Team. Yet somehow 41 players were better? Stop it. Kobe spent years guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter scorer while also carrying one of the heaviest offensive workloads in NBA history. But writers who have never had to fight through an NBA screen, deny an elite scorer the ball or defend an isolation possession reduce defense to DBPM, blocks and spreadsheet formulas. Then casual fans screenshot the ranking and use it as “evidence” that Kobe was overrated. That is the real damage these lists cause. Advanced defensive metrics heavily favor centers, rebounders and shot blockers. They cannot properly measure ball denial, screen navigation, forcing a scorer off his preferred spot, late clock isolation defense or the difficulty of defending stars while also being your team’s offensive engine. 42? There is no serious career argument for putting Wembanyama after three seasons, Bam Adebayo, Jrue Holiday, Andre Iguodala, Joakim Noah, Andrei Kirilenko, Tony Allen, Bruce Bowen, Michael Cooper and several other short peak specialists above Kobe’s complete defensive resume. Kobe being buried at No. 42 beneath players who had half the longevity, half the accolades and a fraction of his two way responsibility. This generation’s obsession with disrespecting Kobe has gone from dishonest to embarrassing. You do not have to pretend he was the greatest defender ever. But stop rewriting history like he wasn’t one of the greatest defensive guards the game has ever seen.
