The Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), was originally enacted in 2008 under President John Agyekum Kufuor, before Akufo-Addo took office. Media groups and free speech advocates argued that the law’s broad language allowed authorities to target journalists, activists, and social media users during the Akufo-Addo administration. That law needs to be reviewed. If not we will think it is being abused by every government.
