A creator’s entire account @Extreo_ getting wiped for reacting to news content raises serious questions about how copyright is being enforced on social media. Commentary, criticism and political opinion are essential parts of public discourse. If a creator is adding analysis, perspective and discussion, that is not piracy, that is participation in democracy. I urge @Instagram and @ABPNews @TusharBanerjee to review this decision carefully. Automated copyright enforcement should not end up silencing commentary creators who engage with current affairs in good faith. Yes Platforms must protect intellectual property, but they must also protect fair commentary and freedom of expression. A balanced review is needed. Restore the account if the content qualifies as transformative commentary.
