The team has currently inspected MTS sites under the Sunyani Forest District, where about 200ha have been demarcated in Tain II, Yaaya, Sawsaw, and Nsemre Forest Reserves and a nursery site in the Sunyani area. Enrichment planting will be undertaken in Asukese Forest Reserve.

The FC/TULLOW team from the NRS and Plantations Department of the Forestry Commission are currently on a field trip under the FC/Tullow REDD+ Project to monitor sites demarcated for MTS, Enrichment Planting and also to inspect nurseries. #GHREDD #TULLOW #ForestsClimatePeople

The team met Afarinick(contractor) for the office/RSC and the inspection team from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding the permit for the project. Some key social and environmental safeguards were raised to which the contractor promised to rectify the issues raised.

The team also visited the Mankranso CHED office to liaise with the District officer and the HMB to collate a farmer list for 15,000Ha Trees on farm under the GRILMaP. They also had the opportunity to inspect some of the procured farm inputs stored at the CHED office.

The GRILMap team from the NRS are currently in the Ahafo Ano landscape under the Gender Responsive and Integrated Landscape Management Project (GRILMaP) to sensitize communities on the need to plant appropriate shade trees on their farms. #GHREDD #GRILMaP #TreesOnFarm

These engagements will largely unveil and increase visibility of the project within the communities. The team engaged over 255 community members in Kintampo North and South and Nkoranza North and South. #ForestsClimatePeople

The main objective of the engagement was to increase awareness of the project, inform community members of planned activities for this year and also seek their support for smooth implementation. #CommunityEngagement #ClimateAwareness

The FC/TULLOW REDD+ Project Team from the Climate Change Directorate embarked on community level engagements in 4 forests districts (Kintampo North and South, Nkoranza North and South) under the FC/Tullow REDD+ Project. #GHREDD #TULLOW

The team also met the Coordinating Director with the representatives of the HMB and Afarinick to get an update on the land documentation for the office and the Rural Service Centre (RSC). #ForestsPeopleLivelihoods

The training workshop was on modules such as Leadership Empowerment, Financial Literacy, HIA by-laws and Gender roles in forest restoration. #ForestRestoration #ClimateChange

The Gender Responsive and Integrated Landscape Management Programme (GRILMaP) Team from NRS paid a visit to Tepa, Abesewa, Wiowso and Mankranso communities to observe the capacity building workshop being facilitated by Tropenbos and Green Bliss. #GHREDD #REDDBenefits

Advancing Sustainable Cocoa in Assin Nyankomase. Sustainable cocoa production requires continuous dialogue and collaboration. Today, the SECO Green Commodities Programme (GCP III), in partnership with the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme (GCFRP), continues its HIA engagements with the Kakum Hotspot Intervention Area (HIA) Management Board in Assin Nyankomase. This engagement focuses on strengthening local governance structures, enhancing landscape management, carbon benefit distribution and promotion of sustainable farming practices that benefit both farmers and the environment. By working together, we can build a resilient cocoa sector that supports livelihoods while safeguarding Ghana’s forests. #SustainableCocoa #REDD+ #ClimateAction #GhanaCocoa #Collaboration #GreenGrowth
