In 2017, my wife and I, inspired by Sugata Mitra’s “Hole in the Wall” experiment, wanted to see if it was possible to teach programming to school students who had never seen or touched a computer. Could we break the barriers of technology and language? With the help of @thammegowda and our team @jnaapti, we decided to give it a try. We visited a government school where TG studied, a school with just two small rooms, but filled with students eager to learn. These students spoke only Kannada, a language some of my team members didn’t even know. But we were determined to find out if passion for learning could transcend language barriers. After some fun physical activities, we introduced them to a game – Laby. What they didn’t know was that this game was secretly designed to teach them programming! In less than 2 hours, these incredible students, who had never even touched a computer before, were writing simple Python programs using basic constructs. They showed us what’s possible when you have the right motivation to learn. This experience taught me that nothing – not language, not lack of resources – can stand in the way of genuine passion to teach and learn. Learning happens when there’s enthusiasm on both sides, and barriers crumble in the face of that shared passion. 💻🎮💡 Next time you feel like complaining, remember that you’re likely in a much better place than you think. They didn't have resources or fancy equipment, but they had the drive to learn. Sometimes, all it takes is that extra bit of effort and a shift in mindset. Maybe you just need to push yourself a little more, because greatness lies on the other side of that push. 💪✨ #Inspiration #PassionToTeach #BreakingBarriers #EducationForAll #Motivation
