@sarahkendrew I live outside in Abingdon and it costs so much. If we all went, it was almost £18 in bus fares. I can park for free at the university on weekends. Travel to work was double on the bus than driving, plus too 3x as long. It’s a pain. My car is super cheap to run

@ouphysicsox Even if you factor in the cost of buying a car and paying for insurance though? I never had a car in Oxford and the buses were pretty cheap iirc.

In the past 5 days I’ve run a race, eaten out multiple times, given colloquiums at 2 local universities, and have not set foot in a car. I’ve walked a lot, taken the metro, bus, train - such an unusual experience compared to life in the US.

@RobertCMahon I have to say it’s much cheaper than public transport, I need 2 buses to get to work and it takes forever! But it still sucks.
