If everything was on the up and up, why was The Daily Mail forced to immediately retract that their anonymous source was a Kirk Family member? Because the entire thing is BS, and we both know it. One plausible explanation remains that it was planted as fodder for your client's show so she could play victim and rage against an imaginary caricature of Erika, which is exactly what she did.
