Second, sovereignty itself, which Carl Schmitt defines as the power to decide on the state of exception, necessarily passes to the machine. Who decides when only AI can comprehend the risks? Sovereignty becomes autonomous because humans are no longer capable of exercising the decision. What Musk leaves unsaid is that, under this logic, only two possibilities remain: humanity either embraces transhumanism by merging with AI, or accepts extinction within an order where the remaining 1% of human intelligence neither governs, deliberates, nor decides.
