KRA is being handed more power to execute in the following ways, 1. Reinstate deregistered taxpayers. 2. Investigate tax avoidance and more leeway to collect info on the same. 3. KRA can enforce payment even if you've appealed the charges.

Also very very interesting to note that it is rumoured they are in the aviation industry and just recently had an Airbus delivered. Essentially insider trading. Passing laws that favour your business at the expense of the entire country.

Also the bill seeks to remove KQ's withholding tax exemptions for overseas parnerships and digital payments. Essentially any services KQ gets from non resident service providers including digital systems services will incur a higher tax increasing KQ's operating costs.

There's a proposed excise duty fee on mobile phones. 25%. The tax is to be charged when you activate the phone yaani ukiweka line ya Kenya. Mbadi explained that they collapsed all the previous taxes on imported devices into this one tax. So the importer won't pay but you will.
