@oatpp_io Issue for reference: gitlab.com/gitterHQ/gitte… All resolved now! This turned out to be a Twitter OAuth misconfiguration issue where our production Twitter app was mangled after Twitter made quota changes to their projects/apps as a result of the API pricing debacle

Scheduled maintenance for the gitter.im homeserver will happen on Wednesday, April 26th (2023-04-26) starting around 06:00 UTC. This will involve 15 minutes of downtime for the host and longer for media upload/download as both get migrated to EKS. And a DNS update.

@ChapelLanguage The Gitter brand still lives on its own so it probably makes the most sense to still use the Gitter logo. The Gitter app is just a Gitter branded Element instance but that's an implementation detail that users don't really need to worry about.

@gitchat @gitchat: Let's say a project had a homepage that links to their community's gitter channel. Given the Gitter-Matrix-Element transition, is there a preferred visual icon to use to link to that community between Gitter/Element/other? Thanks.

Hey @gitchat, the login on my mobile doesn't work. It redirects to gitter.ems.host that displays a blank page.

I use Element on Android. I'm trying to login using GitHub I have 2FA and mobile GH app.

We're working on deploying gitter.im from a new source and changing DNS. Please bear with us with any interruptions today.

Mobile web is considered "Experimental" (#supported-environments" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/vector-im/elem…) You might be interested in hydrogen.element.io which supports it much better.

@LeSpocky irc.gitter.im is no more and will soon be shutdown. The IRC bridge was essentially a consumer of the Gitter API which as the past couple blog posts explain are no longer accessible. See matrix.to/#/!IxQMqGgyzZg… for more discussion on this

@waldyrious The Matrix Public Archive will be an eager follow-up in the ~month afterwards. Fast room peeking is a bit more future looking. The Synapse team is working on faster remote room joins this quarter and peeking is the next bit (github.com/matrix-org/syn…)

@gitchat Exciting to see this! Does that mean that all those features (public archives, fast room peeking, GitHub et al. sign in, etc), will be ready prior to Feb 6th?? That's a lot of good stuff!

Gitter is going fully native Matrix in Feb 2023! You can read more about the migration process and details in the pre-announcement blog post. No action is necessary and all of your rooms and content is safe and will be available in the new world. blog.gitter.im/2023/01/16/git…

@waldyrious Can you post this as an issue on gitlab.com/gitterHQ/webap…? There are too many points to address and I want to include details for each which doesn't fit in a short tweet.

@gitchat Also: what about GitHub features like synced room management permissions with GitHub organization membership, issue and PR short references, activity updates from the repos, etc.? These are a big part of what made Gitter a natural choice for a chat room for FOSS projects.

@waldyrious Any unread message state will be lost. But your room membership will stay intact.

@gitchat I have a concern about this: I've got some conversations with unread messages on gitter.im that I've been meaning to go back and read — will I lose that state (last read message, count of unread messages, joined chats) when I sign up at app.gitter.im?

Gitter appears to be responding normal again ✅. We saw a small bump in 504 errors for 15 minutes that we're chalking up to a load balancer hiccup for now since it occurred across the Gitter webapp and developer.gitter.im

We're investigating the 504 Gateway Time-out errors seen while accessing Gitter rooms 🏃
