@bendreyfuss When socialist start winning elections, some folks on the right find democracy less appealing. And some folks especially in the French military establishment start wondering if German victory would mean simply rounding up the socialist while leaving themselves in charge.

One of the reasons the French surrendered so quickly in WW2 and didn’t continue fighting on from North Africa the way de Gaulle and Reynaud and Daladier wanted was bc France had spent the last decade telling themselves they were losers and that democracy was not worth defending.

@gj0g There are a few exceptions, obviously. Come thou font is solid if not my favorite baseline. Gods gracious love is good. His eye is on the sparrow, yes. But majority are stinker bass lines.

So far after having listened to most of the new hymns I've come to the conclusion that no bass voices wrote then or were consulted.
