My husband is a retired AP History and Current Events High School teacher. He was one of the few teachers we knew who took off points for incorrect spelling. One year he was the only teacher who failed a particular student and kept him from graduating. Other teachers passed him because they just wanted to get him out of the school. My husband said he would be doing this kid a disservice if he passed him. The student had to go to summer school to get his diploma.

YES!! I also think massive class action lawsuits need to be filed against schools, teachers, and school boards when the students can't pass the most basic tests. Why the hell are we being robbed by property taxes to support schools where the kids come out dumber than when they went in?
