@AkihalH Thank you, it takes a ton of work to get to this point but as you can see it’s worth it! It’s called ladder pattern damascus, somewhat basic to be honest. If you wanna see even more insane patterns just look up mosaic damascus or feather damascus, you’ll be blown away!
English

@neil_burridge Wow! Looks almost like the rainbow colors we see from plate quenching stainless steel.
English

@2140btc Thanks 🙏 it’s a ferric chloride acid solution that etches the steel and reveals the damascus steel layers within
English

@gloyper6000 That’s awesome!
What do you have dipped in? Boiled Linseed Oil, etc?
English

@BustedKnucklePr Hey I appreciate it! I make custom blades and sell directly to my clients. I’ve got another halfway done which will be available soon. That would be way too cool seeing one of these in a film. DM me and we can go through the details.
English

@gloyper6000 Epitome of Awesome! Do you have a shop? Would love to buy one to use in one of our films and then keep for myself.
English

@DKcUoJPsGXXvC1t Thank you! I’ve been wanting to make a proper wooden scabbard with brass fittings for historical accuracy. Not sure why my customers want a leather sheath all the time. It would be like making a katana with just a leather sheath lol
English

@Syncreticist Thanks! Here it is. Unfortunately the customer wanted a deep etch and a sandblast finish to give it an ancient aesthetic. Not doing that again because it distorts the pattern I worked so hard to get way too much.

English

@gloyper6000 That is absolutely beautiful. Any pics of it finished?
English

@IxMag I appreciate it! I’ll post a sharpness test video soon.
English

@Prest0n5 @h2eE08QxQN78672 Yeah I’m pretty sure the label said something about circuit boards
English

@mwinstonf3 Yeah my garage! In all seriousness yes, there are a handful of production companies in the US making some insane looking patterns. Search “feather damascus pattern” for a really cool one 🫡
English

@limlim_new Strangely enough it destroys it! Just at a very slow controlled rate. It’s a ferric chloride acid solution that attacks the carbon steel but won’t touch the other type of steel which has 2% Nickel content thereby revealing the damascus pattern.
English

@Q3KG2ur1YE9Xluf Thank you my friend, this is only the 3rd sword I’ve made so far. I’m just getting started 😁 Here’s the finished product. Customer wanted a deep etch and sandblast finish for an ancient aesthetic. Not doing that again cuz the pattern gets distorted 🫠

English

@h2eE08QxQN78672 Yeah, the video shows me pulling it out of ferric chloride acid which reveals contrast between the 2 types of steel. The dark is high carbon and the shiny is also high carbon with 2% Nickel which resists the acid.
English

@OfLegion25150 Yes, I do custom orders and ship from the US internationally. Check your local laws. I’ve got another one about halfway done that will be available soon 🗡️
