@intelliot perhaps it is a widespread issue with email search in general. but I absolutely hate how they all default to semantic search. if I'm looking to Andy I don't need emails that have Andrew in them and vice versa

Maps are no different from software. Bad or biased maps would've lost to better ones fast. There's a reason this one is still alive 500 years later: you can't flatten a globe without distorting something, and Mercator spent its distortion budget on the one thing sailors needed. Straight lines you can actually steer by.
