It’s amazing that there is this large crowd that believes “it’s impossible to beat the market”. I come from a prop trading background and in that culture it is a commonality to destroy the market. As a matter of fact, if you are returning 10%, you probably are on the low end of performers at the firm. Returns like 150% CAGRs, 3.0 Sharpes etc are not far fetched. Yes, the majority of these strategies can’t scale to billions of dollars. But if you are under $250M, there’s a lot of alpha that can be taken advantage of, and it’s not crazy to think someone can return 20% a year.

@Murph_Locc As far as the shock to market goes, it’ll be pretty state dependent. Somewhere like Florida where the estimated delinquency rate is 8%, 50-100 mil wouldn’t get very far but for some states with lower delinquencies and lower prices it would be a short term buffer

Just curious, why do we think increasing taxes will help poor people? Taxes give the government more money. Pay increases gives the employees more money. What am I missing?
