Aston Villa remain in the process of completing the registration of forward Brian Madjo. Madjo signed in a deal worth in the region of £10million from French club FC Metz in January, but has not yet featured for any of Villa’s teams, having been technically able, as a 17-year-old, to play for both the club’s youth and reserve sides as well as the senior squad. This is due to FIFA blocking Villa from completing his registration, despite Madjo being born in England, but having joined from an overseas club. From Villa’s standpoint, there is frustration internally that the process to register the striker is taking so long, having wanted to get Madjo up to speed sooner. Madjo was born in London to Cameroonian parents but grew up in Luxembourg, and does not turn 18 until January 2027 — when he would be allowed to complete his registration. Presently, FIFA has turned down Villa’s request to register him early, with Article 19 within their regulation rules prohibiting international transfers of players under 18.
