It goes without saying this is deranged. But if Trump backs down and makes a deal, this is exactly how he would do it. His entire persona is built on projecting toughness, being a "strongman", someone capable of anything. He will make it seem like these threats are what forced Iran to back down, regardless of the reality or the actual strategic outcome. That is the logic of his “madman doctrine,” to appear unpredictable and willing to go to extremes, even if in practice it functions more as a coercive bluff, designed to serve political ends and extract greater concessions. Yet the greater danger has always been that there are two Trumps: one, the businessman with at least some sense of cost-benefit analysis; the other, the egomaniacal wanna-be dictator, surrounded by sycophants. It is the latter side of him, encouraged by Israel and pro-Israel voices in his ear, that may take the world to the catastrophic escalation scenario, one that would further damage U.S. interests, devastate Iran and its people, further destabilize the region, and ultimately tarnish Trump’s own legacy and Republican prospects for the midterms.

This life is fucking amazing. I'm so grateful to be alive, with all of you on this miracle of a planet. Oh and I'm sorry if I fuck things up sometimes. I'm a flawed human. But I promise to do whatever I can to try to add some more understanding and love to this world. After the world leader convos I get attacked intensely by all sides, and many disparate online communities. It has led to some really low points for me mentally. But I don't matter. I'm listening. In Iran, the regime uses human shields and recruited child soldiers to clear minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. They treat their own people like disposable tools. They are now recruiting child soldiers as we speak. The Islamic Republic has zero regard for human life. That’s the brutal difference. One side risks everything to save their own. The other sacrifices their own to stay in power. This hits hard when you have lived under both realities.
