Kudos to the unbreakable unity of Goa’s #Adivasi community, whose resolute stand forced an arrogant and adamant @GovtofGoa  to its knees in the #Chimbel struggle against the ‘Unity Mall’ and the ‘Prashashan Stambh’. Besides the legal battle, it was the determined 44-day #nonviolent struggle—led with extraordinary courage, especially by the #women- that stands as a powerful lesson for all of us. It shows how passionately and uncompromisingly one must fight, right till the end, to save #Goa from environmental disaster. This is also a lesson for those in power: you simply cannot trifle with the lives and dignity of #Tribals. As the first settlers of Goa, dating back nearly 7,000 years, they know this land far better than those of us who migrated here much later (all of us are, after all, 'ghantis'). It would be wise for the ruling dispensation to stop imposing the unscientific myth that #LordParashuram—a Brahmin warrior who annihilated the #Kshatriya clan 21 times—created Goa by shooting an arrow into the Arabian Sea. Let people worship #Parashuram as a deity, but proclaiming him as ‘Gomantbhoomi Janak’ (Creator of Goa’s land) is like piercing an arrow into the heart of Goa’s Adivasi community by denying their truthful history, identity and ‘creation of Goa’. It was they who made this land cultivable and laid the firm foundations of the agro-economy of our #BhangarachemGoem. One hopes those in power learn from Chimbel—learn to respect the community that is the true 'Gomantbhoomi Janak'!

Met my Delhi-based journalist friend @ashutosh83B again in Goa after eight long years, when he had come down to Goa for a seminar on 19 December. Last time, he was in Goa to lead the Aam Aadmi Party Goa team in 2017 election. Perhaps the only national level journalist, who could go back and continue journalism without losing credibility, after quitting AAP. His @SatyaHindi channel is the only courageous outspoken channel which does not spare anybody (AAP included). His book #ReclaimingBharat on 2024 Lok Sabha elections is worth a read to understand India’s political arena with an objective eye.
