@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ And which is caused by specific conditions which is not what you were asking about
English

@god4angel @alopias__ Did you read this entire thing? It cites multiple uses, one of which is not permanent
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ There are lots of resources as to the meaning of nonverbal irt speech capability. If you're asking abt shutdown, it's a community term. Bc nv people have asked for nv to stop being misused. You can use a different term if you want, my point is more about the term nonverbal.
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ The reason I said "if you're not describing a symptom" is because in your initial question that's what you said. You said you weren't describing a condition. If you're not describing a condition then find other words. This is my stance
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ And if you're not describing a symptom or similar then find other words anyway cuz ?????? you cant just co-opt disability terminology just cuz it seems close enough to what ur dealing with. Dont ask me and then get mad when I tell you
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ Read my other replies please. Or just keep knowingly misusing terms if you want I guess
English

@dewfrit I mean more like telling me I don't understand DID
English

@flydeltajets_ Grace offhandedly mentions autism once (because Grace is on the spectrum) and Rocky asks about it and they go down a rabbithole with disability. I have yet to outline eridian concepts of psychology and disability but rocky is aware of human bigotry by the time they reach erid
English

@god4angel WHO TAUGHT ROCKY WHAT ABLEISM WAS ANDHAJFJADA
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ Like you're talking about context but I'm telling you the context. Nonverbal when relating to the condition of your speech capabilities refers to someone who Does Not Talk, and verbal shutdown is episodic. What more can I explain for you my friend
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ The reason I am firm on this topic is bc the term nonverbal is already very misconstrued. It's not a loss of social battery or a blinker as social media has been putting it. Its a condition that deserves recognition. There is a term for temp loss. It doesnt need more context
English

@god4angel @alopias__ I wouldn’t say “gone autistic” but I would say “gone nonverbal” because autistic is its own word invented to describe a specific condition and non verbal are two words which, when put together, have been used to describe a way in which autism can manifest but were not exclusively
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ A context in which you would appropriately use nonverbal outside of being nonverbal is "I was communicating nonverbally"
English

@bugsareppltoo @alopias__ you wouldn't say you've "gone autistic" or the like. you cant "go nonverbal" either. you can become nonverbal, but nonverbality is just not episodic
English

@god4angel @alopias__ In a situation where you’re not describing a medical or psychiatric condition and rather just your current state, does this distinction matter? Like how you can say you’re feeling depressed without meaning you have major depressive disorder and still be correct? Genq
