The RBZ has to explain itself…… turns out the lender of last resort is Shah. What interest rate was being charged? How does RBZ justify itself taking banks money through NNCD’s at zero percent?
We need to bring confidence back in the monetary system. Perhaps get Nic Vingirai as a consultant. Pity we are not in the commonwealth anymore….
“In terms of it, the applicant has provided funding to the first respondent as and when required for urgent national needs… the first respondent was consistently paying back to the applicant a whopping US$250, 000 every week in settlement of a debt in excess of US$53 million,” the judge said. “That contractual arrangement had endured for more than two decades.”

@NWaputin @CrimeWatchZW RBZ requires banks to close inactive accounts. Charging inactive accounts is wrong. Bank is creating fake revenue for themselves. how many accounts of deceased people they have charged or of those who have relocated to other countries?

Hello Crime Watch Zim. I am facing a problem with my ZB Bank account.
US$45 was taken from my Nostro account because of bank charges on a ZiG/RTGS account that I closed in 2020. The bank said the account had outstanding charges, so they deducted the money from my Nostro account.
I do not think this is fair. When I closed the account, I wrote a letter requesting its closure. Now they are asking me to provide proof of that letter. How was I supposed to keep a letter for six years? Is it now like a permanent document?
I want to know if what ZB Bank did is in line with RBZ rules. Actions like this discourage people from using formal banking systems and may push them towards informal options.
What makes it worse is that I needed that money to pay medical bills.

@SABCNews Cost of getting a passport is making Zimbabwean poor to jump borders, just to make a few people rich. No shame in those responsible. Hope SA will continue to tighten their borders and send back the heat to Zim e corrupt elite

Madagascar 🇲🇬
Shocking!!
Michael Randrianirina, President of Madagascar, is trending after being seen going through normal airport security checks in Antananarivo.
In the video, he stands in line with others, carries his own luggage, and waits for checks before boarding a flight to Equatorial Guinea.
No special treatment.
No heavy convoy.
This is rare for many African leaders.
Since taking power, he has kept a simple lifestyle, often moving with minimal security and staying close to ordinary citizens.

@baba_nyenyedzi Its also time to see if RBZ do actually have the forex reserves they claim to have,
English

The fuel crisis will create severe inflationary pressure in Zimbabwe. The recent price increase also exposes a deeper weakness: the absence of adequate fuel reserves and derivative hedging market that could have cushioned the current shock.
Prices are sticky downward. Once transport, production and retail prices adjust upward across the economy, they rarely fall back with the same speed, even if the original shock eases.
That is why reserves matter. Their central function is to absorb external shocks and smooth sudden swings in commodity prices. Without them, every global price spike passes straight through to the domestic economy, with inflation following close behind.

Why did GoZ increase taxes on already high fuel prices? Do we have fuel reserves? What is the likely impact on Zim?
The Chinese embassy released a strongly worded note warning investors about GoZ policy inconsistency. What should we read into this?
