Militarily it’s been one of the best Easters

President Trump begins by saying that “militarily, it’s been one of the best” Easters.

@BBGreatMoments Catcher was set up off the plate, had to reach back to catch the ball, it can be a strike in high school or college, even in low level MiLB, but in the big leagues, hit your spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
English

@jimmyjerkit @BBGreatMoments Letting the ump off the hook. Roboumps are needed asap
English

@BBGreatMoments Blame the catcher on that one. What the hell was he doing with his glove hand?
English

@bobpavao1964 @BBGreatMoments Maybe if they used roboumps this wouldn't be a problem
English

@BBGreatMoments Maybe if catchers would stop snatching every pitch. They make everything look like a ball

I have seen first sips of beer. This is not a first sip of beer lol
Jomboy Media@JomboyMedia
For the 21st anniversary of the first game at Nationals Park, the Nats had a fan who was born the day the ballpark opened onto the field for a ceremonial first sip of beer

every ball-strike call should be democratically elected. only people with passports can vote. you cannot do it online. you have to enter into a confessional-style booth and tell Rob Manfred your vote verbally. we only have time for one baseball game a year
Bad Sports Refs@BadSportsRefs
You make the call: should pitches that are 99.9%+ out of the zone like this be a strike?
English

@Os_poems To provide a buffer for close calls, why not put a 1” border frame around the strike zone so if the ball touches it, NOT a strike. Can provide some relief to the umps as that 2.9” ball comes in at 90+ MPH. Hard to argue that a 1” miss isn’t an acceptable error for humans.
English

Who cares man they have to draw a line for a pitch being called a strike somewhere
Even if they make a rule that 20% of the ball has to be in the zone or something, then people will just be upset when 20.0001% of the ball is in the zone and it’s called a strike

yeah, it should be required that at least 10% of the ball is in the strike zone. I’m sorry this is just egregious.
Codify@CodifyBaseball
about as close as it gets

@rationalyankee Your last point doesn't even make sense. These guys are saying the changes didn't go far enough!
English

MLB tested full ABS in the minors. Players and umpires both hated it.
The current system works. It’s fun, adds some drama and creates more correct calls.
There’s always going to be those old timers who complain every time something changes. But I think the current system has been extremely successful so far.

@robpizzola Well now the skill premium shifts from pitch framing to knowing when to challenge
English

Still genuinely torn on these challenges. Pitch framing is a real skill and there's something I like about the chaos that comes with a human element behind the plate. But I'd be lying if I said this past weekend wasn't great. Fans going nuts, umps getting shown up, players getting exposed. Hard to hate it. I think I've fully come around.
