Our team also spent time exchanging ideas with peers from across the country, strengthening partnerships, and advocating for policies that expand access and grow Louisiana’s talent pipeline.

We were proud to not only meet with, but celebrate, U.S. Senator @BillCassidy, recipient of the 2026 National Education Service Award from @CCTrustees and @Comm_College — a recognition of his continued commitment to advancing education and supporting community colleges nationwide.

Our entire delegation had the opportunity to speak with @RepFields to discuss workforce priorities, student opportunity, and the continued impact of Louisiana’s Community and Technical Colleges across the state. Thank you for your leadership, Congressman Fields.

Conversations on Capitol Hill included a meeting with U.S. Speaker of the House @MikeJohnson, highlighting the impact of Louisiana’s Community and Technical Colleges on economic growth, workforce readiness, and expanded opportunity.

This week, @LCTCSpresident Richard Nelson, LCTCS Board of Supervisors Chair Tim Hardy, and leaders from Louisiana’s Community and Technical Colleges were in Washington, D.C., for the @CCTrustees National Legislative Summit — joining more than 1,000 advocates from across the country to champion the role of community colleges as a driving force behind America’s workforce and economic growth.

In celebration of Career and Technical Education Month, we are thankful for the @LowesFoundation and their Gable Grant funding to build the Capital City Construction Lab, a hands-on, open-air student learning environment designed to replicate real-world construction conditions.
