@thunderhorseDB@byAlexPerry@PepperellEddie back in the day, yes, but the DPWT is just so weak now. Paul, McIntyre, Perez etc get nowhere near in world terms. Sadly, our tour is now weaker than the Kornferry and the US tour isn’t giving spots to those guys
Done some nerding out.
There have been 5 variations of the qualification format since the World Points/European Points system came in.
This is who from the Class of '23 would have made it to previous Ryder Cups...
@byAlexPerry@PepperellEddie Thanks very much. Shows exactly why they have changed it…. Team USA doesn’t have qualifiers from the Kornferry, which is a stronger tour than the DPWT. Europe should move to 6 off the world list plus 6 picks. McIntyre is lucky to have got the last spot
@David_Ornstein@TheAthleticFC@mcgrathmike A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay. All the idiots on here saying “it’s not enough”…. Who will pay more then?
@WelBeast They are paying now and spreading it over a long period. They aren’t going to be able to make the same level of player sales each season so they will have a few years of not being able to spend much
Arsenal had to loan David Raya because of FFP.
Manchester United have to take players on loan because of FFP.
But Chelsea somehow are able to spend £1B in 3 transfer windows because they are exploiting a loophole. How come this loophole can only be exploited by Chelsea?
🗣️#Arsenal legend David Seaman does not want ESR to leave this summer: ‘That would hurt for me, because him and Saka, they’re one of our own and all of that sort of stuff.
‘And that’s why, for me, even when Mount went to Man United, I felt like that was like, ‘Woah, that’s a big part of your team that’s gone’ – and I think that would be the same for Smith Rowe at Arsenal.
‘I would be very surprised if he went to Chelsea, really surprised. I don’t want it to happen, if I’m honest.’
@Gunnersc0m@AFCAMDEN They were about to pay £88m for Mudryk in January. If they believe in their scouting, it’s a no brainer to accept this. Mudryk has a far higher ceiling
🚨🏆🇺🇸 #DISCUSSION: Will Justin Thomas be picked by Captain Zack Johnson tomorrow? If not, who are you pairing with Jordan Spieth? (Assuming he’s picked). #RyderCup
I understand the JT ire, but the reality is that he's the captain. You don't even have to play him more than twice if you don't want, but his presence as a player matters (to both sides). The Americans need a lightning rod, and the Euros want him sitting in Jupiter.
Winning on the road in Europe for the first time in three decades is going to be insanely difficult. And while you have the talent to do it without him, the talent-only formula hasn't done much over there for six straight events. You need a team, and JT is the soul of it. I think you have to take him.
@piersmorgan Oh give it a rest, Piers. Trying to get another agenda going to try and raise your own profile and quench your thirst for attention. Get behind the team and trust the manager, or flounce off like you have form of doing…
